Kylian Mbappé has declared his transfer to Real Madrid “a dream come true.” On his Instagram, he expressed unparalleled excitement and shared childhood photos in Madrid attire, one featuring the legendary Ronaldo. Ronaldo, Madrid’s top scorer at 39, reciprocated the excitement, welcoming Mbappé to light up the Bernabéu. Joining a victorious team, Mbappé steps into a squad that recently clinched both the Spanish League and the Champions League, securing a dominant win against Borussia Dortmund.
Mbappé’s High-Profile Transfer to Madrid
Sources told ESPN that he will earn €15 million a year after tax at Madrid, and will receive a €150 million ($16.2m) signing-on fee, to be paid over the length of his contract.
Several of Mbappé’s new Madrid teammates took to social media to welcome him. Ahead of Madrid’s official announcement, Vinícius Júnior hinted at the upcoming news with a “watch” emoji. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois greeted him with, “Welcome to your new home,” in French. Teammates from the French national team, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni, also expressed their welcomes, with Tchouaméni posting “welcome home bro!”
Even Brazil forward Rodrygo Goes, whose starting position might be impacted by Mbappé’s arrival, shared his enthusiasm with heart eye emojis.
Currently, Mbappé is with the French national team, preparing for the upcoming European Championship. Madrid has yet to schedule his official presentation at the Bernabéu, which is expected after his commitments with France.
