Nine Goals Light Up the Parc des Princes
Paris Saint-Germain claimed a narrow 5-4 win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in the most goal-filled first leg ever played in a Champions League semi-final.
The match at the Parc des Princes moved at a relentless pace. Luis Enrique later called it the best game he had coached, and the scoreline showed why.
Harry Kane opened the scoring for Bayern from the penalty spot in the 17th minute. PSG answered seven minutes later through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, before Joao Neves gave the home side the lead.
Michael Olise made it 2-2 shortly before halftime, but Ousmane Dembele struck from the spot late in the first half. PSG went into the interval 3-2 ahead.
PSG Build Big Lead Before Bayern Fight Back
The second half brought even more drama. Kvaratskhelia scored again in the 56th minute, and Dembele added another goal two minutes later.
At 5-2, PSG looked close to taking full control of the tie. Bayern, however, refused to collapse.
Dayot Upamecano headed in after 65 minutes, then Luis Diaz scored three minutes later to cut the gap to one goal. PSG still held on, but the final stages were far more tense than expected.
Second Leg Remains Open in Munich
The 5-4 result gives PSG a slim lead before the return match at the Allianz Arena on May 6.
Bayern will take belief from their late response, despite leaving Paris with a defeat. PSG, meanwhile, may regret losing a three-goal advantage on a night that turned into one of the most chaotic Champions League semi-finals in recent memory.
