Ancelotti Responds to Silva's Remarks on Real Madrid's European Fortitude

Carlo Ancelotti has responded to Bernardo Silva, affirming that Real Madrid’s illustrious European history speaks to their quality.

Silva described Real Madrid as a “weird team” following their advancement past Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Champions League via penalties last round. Manchester City midfielder Silva intended this as a compliment, suggesting that Real Madrid often surprises opponents and proves challenging to dominate, considering their status as 14-time European champions.

However, Real Madrid’s coach Ancelotti retorted, “We are not strange. We are a team that proudly represents our historical success in this competition. There is nothing I need to say to Bernardo Silva. He is an exceptional, tremendous player. They reached the final last year, and now it’s our turn to shine.

Mutual Admiration Between Ancelotti and Tuchel Ahead of Key Match

Carlo Ancelotti exchanged high praises with Thomas Tuchel before their teams clashed, with Tuchel labeling Ancelotti a “legend” and Ancelotti in turn calling Tuchel a “genius.” Ancelotti, a former Bayern Munich coach, expressed his concerns about his old team’s capabilities, acknowledging that despite Real Madrid being the heavy favorites, Bayern remains a formidable opponent. He highlighted Bayern’s strength, noting their impressive performance in eliminating Arsenal during the Champions League quarter-finals.

Ancelotti commended Tuchel’s coaching prowess, describing him as a tactical genius whose teams are always well-prepared and thoroughly trained. He expressed confidence in his own team but maintained a respectful tone towards Bayern. He remarked on Bayern’s less than stellar Bundesliga season but emphasized their exceptional play against Arsenal, illustrating the depth of quality and rich history that Bayern holds, akin to that of Real Madrid.

Ancelotti Reflects on His Time in Munich

Ancelotti chuckled when asked a question in German, admitting he had forgotten much of the language from his year in Bavaria.

He commented, “I remember Munich, a nice city, but unfortunately, German was difficult to retain. My son speaks better German, and I apologize. I have forgotten many things. It is a beautiful, spectacular city to live in.”
