Sinner vs. Alcaraz at the US Open? Djokovic aiming to ‘mess up those plans’

Djokovic blocks out the hype

While many anticipate a Jannik Sinner vs. Carlos Alcaraz showdown in the US Open final, Novak Djokovic insists he is ready to spoil the script. The 38-year-old Serb booked his place in the semi-finals after defeating Taylor Fritz in four sets and will face Alcaraz next.

Chasing Grand Slam No. 25

Djokovic, a four-time US Open champion, is targeting a record-extending 25th major. He has reached the semi-finals at all four Grand Slams in 2025 but has yet to secure a title this season. To triumph in New York, he may need to overcome both Alcaraz and Sinner, who have won the past seven majors between them.

Alcaraz semi-final showdown

The Serb leads Alcaraz 5-3 in their head-to-head and admitted his best tennis will be needed at Arthur Ashe Stadium. “I definitely am not going with a white flag on the court,” he said. “I know my best tennis is going to be required, but I’d rise to the occasion.”

Fritz win review

Reflecting on his quarter-final victory over Fritz, Djokovic praised his resilience in crucial moments. The win improved his record to 11-0 against the American. He acknowledged that managing his body for recovery will be crucial ahead of Friday’s blockbuster semi-final.
