Lewis Hamilton Begins New Chapter as a Ferrari Driver

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula One world champion, has turned a lifelong dream into reality by driving for Ferrari. The British racing icon completed his first laps as a Ferrari driver at the team’s Fiorano test circuit on a foggy Wednesday morning. The test marked the beginning of a new chapter in Hamilton’s illustrious career, following his blockbuster transfer from Mercedes.

First Laps in Red: Hamilton’s Dream Realised

Hamilton tested Ferrari’s 2023 model, adhering to Formula One regulations that permit a maximum of 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) of testing. After his run at Fiorano, Hamilton will log additional miles at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya ahead of the pre-season tests in Bahrain, starting 26 February.

Speaking on his first day with Ferrari, Hamilton said:

“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever, and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days. Racing in red has always been a dream, and I couldn’t be happier to realise it.”

A Monumental Career Move

Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari, following 12 seasons and six world titles with Mercedes, is being hailed as one of the most significant transfers in F1 history. His first race with Ferrari is set for 16 March in Melbourne, with the official unveiling of his car scheduled for 19 February in Maranello.

Hamilton will team up with Charles Leclerc, and both drivers aim to return Ferrari to championship contention after years of mixed results.

Hamilton’s Record-Breaking Ambition

Hamilton, who ended a two-and-a-half-year winless streak with a victory at the British Grand Prix in 2023, has his sights set on becoming the first driver to win eight world championships. Reflecting on his legacy and future with Ferrari, Hamilton added:

“We start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”

The Road Ahead for Hamilton and Ferrari

As Ferrari prepares to launch its 2024 season, expectations are high. Hamilton’s vast experience and determination to break records could be the catalyst Ferrari needs to return to its glory days. Fans around the world eagerly await to see how the British champion performs in the iconic red suit.
