George Russell stole the show with pole and victory in Singapore, yet the headline from Marina Bay for the title fight was the ground made up by Lando Norris and Max Verstappen on Oscar Piastri.
Norris jumped from fifth to third on lap one
He passed Kimi Antonelli and then Oscar Piastri at Turn 3, brushing both his team mate and Verstappen in the process. The McLaren driver then shadowed the Red Bull for much of the race but Verstappen held firm to secure second behind Russell. Piastri lacked the pace to attack for the podium and finished fourth.
The standings picture tightens. Piastri’s lead over Norris is down to 22 points. Verstappen is now 63 points off the top. There are six rounds to go, three with Sprints in Austin, Sao Paulo and Qatar, so a maximum of 174 points remains on the table.
