Tottenham predicted team vs Doncaster as Thomas Frank plans eight changes

Rotation plan, injuries and return watch

Thomas Frank must balance a competitive side for the Carabao Cup with rest after a busy post-break week. With Wolves ahead on Saturday, wholesale changes beckon against League One’s seventh-placed Doncaster, who include Spurs loanee Damola Ajayi. Frank confirmed Antonin Kinsky starts in goal and that Randal Kolo Muani (dead leg) and Ben Davies (twisted knee) remain out. Dominic Solanke and summer signing Kota Takai both trained on Tuesday after ankle and plantar fascia issues and could make the bench. Radu Dragusin has been back in full training for a couple of weeks following his January ACL injury; the staff will judge if this is the moment for match minutes.

Defensive jigsaw and likely starters

Centre-back depth is thin, so one of Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven may partner Kevin Danso, with the senior duo potentially sharing the load, or teenager Archie Gray could slot in alongside the Austria international. Starts are expected for Xavi Simons, Djed Spence, Pape Matar Sarr, Brennan Johnson and Mathys Tel after roles off the bench at Brighton. Sixteen-year-olds Jun’ai Byfield and Luca Williams-Barnett trained with the first team and may feature among the substitutes, while Dane Scarlett could get minutes.

Predicted XI (4-3-3)

Kinsky; Spence, Romero, Danso, Udogie; Sarr, Gray, Xavi; Johnson, Tel, Odobert.
