Cristiano Ronaldo Celebrates His 40th Birthday with No Signs of Slowing Down

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal captain and one of football’s greatest icons, marked his 40th birthday on Wednesday, showing no signs of slowing down. The AL Nassr forward continues to break records and achieve incredible milestones, most recently increasing his tally to 923 career goals after scoring twice in a 4-0 victory over Al Wasl in the Asian Champions League. This win also marked his 700th club career victory.

Ronaldo’s Unrivaled Confidence and Ambition

Widely regarded as one of the best players of all time, Ronaldo holds a steadfast belief in his own supremacy. When asked about competition, the veteran forward was unapologetically confident.

“I honestly haven’t seen anyone better than me,” Ronaldo declared in an interview with El Chiringuito TV. “I believe I am the most complete player that has ever existed. I do everything in football.”

His unwavering self-assurance is grounded in the sheer extent of his accomplishments and his continued drive to improve, even at the age of 40.

Ronaldo’s Impressive Achievements and Longevity

Starting his professional career in 2002 with Sporting CP, Ronaldo quickly rose to prominence, with memorable stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now Al Nassr. With a career spanning nearly two decades, the 40-year-old has amassed an astonishing 33 senior titles, including five Champions League trophies four of which came during his nine years at Real Madrid.

“I’m so competitive that many times I forget what I’ve achieved as it gives me motivation to do more and be better every year,” Ronaldo admitted. “Somebody else in my position would have left football 10 years ago. I continue with that passion. I’m different.”

The Possibility of Reaching 1000 Career Goals

While Ronaldo is already the player with the most goals in football history, he is eyeing the milestone of 1000 career goals.

“It would be great, but if it doesn’t come, I’m already the player in history with the most goals,” he said, reflecting on his journey. “To score goals is the best sensation in the world and the most difficult thing in football.”

A Career That Transcends Football

Beyond his remarkable goal-scoring feats, Ronaldo’s career has been defined by his leadership and success on the international stage. He captained Portugal to victory in Euro 2016 and the inaugural UEFA Nations League three years later.

With 135 goals, Ronaldo is the all-time top scorer in international football and holds the world record for most appearances in international competitions (217). Furthermore, he is the only player to have appeared in six European Championships and is the competition’s all-time leading goal scorer with 14 goals.

At 40, Ronaldo’s impact on the sport remains profound. His story isn’t just one of exceptional skill—it’s a testament to relentless passion, commitment, and the pursuit of greatness.
