Newcastle owners met Isak at his home to resolve transfer saga

Private meeting ahead of Liverpool clash

Newcastle United’s ownership took direct steps to settle the Alexander Isak situation by meeting the striker privately at his Northumberland residence on Monday. According to the Daily Mail, co-owner Jamie Reuben and director Jacobo Solis, representing the Public Investment Fund, spoke with Isak just hours before Newcastle’s Premier League match against Liverpool. Their aim was to persuade him to end his strike and reintegrate into Eddie Howe’s squad.

Isak’s stance and Liverpool interest

The 25-year-old forward has made it clear he wants to leave for Liverpool, who had a £110m bid rejected earlier this month. Newcastle have so far refused to sanction a move, insisting that any sale would only be possible if two new strikers arrived before the transfer window closes. The situation worsened after Isak issued a public statement accusing the club of “broken promises” and saying that trust was lost.

Chairman’s backing and possible new contract

Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan was present at St James’ Park for the 3–2 defeat to Liverpool but did not attend the home visit. Reports suggest he fully supports the club’s efforts to keep their top scorer. During the meeting, the possibility of offering Isak a new contract if he agrees to stay was discussed.

Uncertain resolution

Sources close to the talks described the meeting as a “step in the right direction.” However, whether Isak is willing to soften his stance remains uncertain. Newcastle’s preference is still to keep the striker, but the final decision may depend on Isak’s response as the transfer deadline approaches.
