Mohamed Salah’s New Two-Year Contract

Mohamed Salah remains Liverpool’s highest earner after securing a new two-year contract, making his wages the most the club has ever paid.

Record Earnings for Salah

Salah has established himself as one of the finest players in Liverpool’s history, and with the rise in transfer fees and wages, it is no surprise that he is the club’s top earner.

Following the announcement of his new contract on Friday, Salah’s deal is reportedly worth up to £50 million. According to the Telegraph’s Chris Bascombe, if all bonuses and clauses are met, Salah could earn around £25 million annually, equating to £480,000 per week.

A Significant Pay Rise

While Salah’s exact basic wage is not yet known, this figure suggests a significant increase from the £350,000-per-week contract he agreed to in 2022.

Liverpool’s Other High Earners

Liverpool’s other top earners currently range around £200,000 per week, with Virgil van Dijk likely to have negotiated an increase on his £220,000 weekly salary following the signing of his new two-year contract, expected to be announced soon.

Alisson is the club’s third-highest earner, with Trent Alexander-Arnold reportedly in a similar salary range as Van Dijk. Some of Liverpool’s other stars, such as Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Federico Chiesa, are believed to earn around £100,000 to £120,000 per week.

Ibrahima Konate’s Salary Negotiations

Ibrahima Konate, who currently earns £80,000 a week, is reportedly seeking a salary close to £200,000 a week in contract extension talks set to extend until 2026.

Premier League’s Top Earners

Erling Haaland, the Premier League’s highest-paid player, earns £500,000 a week with Manchester City. With Salah’s new contract, he becomes the second-highest paid player in the Premier League, ahead of Kevin De Bruyne, who currently earns £400,000 a week at City.

Slot Praises Liverpool’s Efforts

In a press conference on Friday morning, Liverpool’s head coach, Slot, praised the efforts of sporting director Richard Hughes for securing Salah’s new contract, joking that the club’s effort involved “mostly money.”

“I’m part of that process, but I don’t think I deserve the compliments,” Slot said. “I think first of all, it’s Mo’s choice, his agent’s choice, what he wants, and second of all, the club, FSG, Richard, Michael Edwards, they put a lot of effort in for him to extend. And effort mostly means money! But also effort, not only money.”

Slot also noted that the new deal reflects the club’s ambitions for the future, suggesting that the success of the current season is only the beginning. “What it might tell you as well is that it’s not only a good season this season, we want to make it a very good season next season as well. I think Mo is convinced that it’s a fair chance we are able to do so. Again, that’s a positive for us.”
