Maresca Looking for Internal Solution for Colwill’s Replacement

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca addressed the media in his first press conference of the season regarding the injury to Levi Colwill. Maresca confirmed that Colwill, who underwent knee surgery, is a significant loss for the team, but emphasized that Chelsea will look for an internal solution to cover for him.

New Signing or Internal Solution?

When asked if the solution would involve a new signing, Maresca clarified that the club is focused on finding an internal solution for the defense, although they are aware of the need for a central defender. The coach mentioned that the club knows his thoughts on reinforcing the defense.

Tosin Adarabioyo the Only One Who Can Replace Colwill

Maresca stated that Tosin Adarabioyo is the only player who can replace Colwill effectively, as they both played together in 64 games last season. Other defenders, like Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, are also facing issues, complicating the situation further.

Isak’s Uncertain Future

Meanwhile, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe discussed the ongoing situation with striker Alexander Isak. Howe stated that although he expects Isak to stay at the club, the situation is out of his hands, and Isak will not be available for the season opener. Howe indicated that the matter will continue to develop as the transfer window progresses.
