United weigh January targets as the window reopens

Players linked with a move in

Manchester United will be able to push through transfer plans once the January window opens on January 1.

Antoine Semenyo is one of the names being discussed. Reports say he has a £65m release clause made up of £60m plus £5m in add ons, and it can only be triggered from January 1 to January 15. United are also said to have spoken about personal terms as they look to move ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Ruben Neves is viewed as a possible value option. With his deal running until June 2026, he has reportedly turned down new offers and could be available for around £10m to £20m. The biggest issue is his current tax free pay in Saudi Arabia, which could make a permanent switch difficult.

Conor Gallagher is another situation being monitored. He joined Atletico Madrid for £34m in 2024, but the Spanish club are reportedly willing to sell for roughly £26.3m. United were initially more interested in a loan, while Atletico are believed to insist on a permanent transfer.

Ayyoub Bouaddi remains a longer term target. The 18 year old has recently extended his contract to June 2029, which helps protect his price. Although his current valuation is about £26m, Lille are expected to ask for significantly more if they are to sell before the summer.

Possible exits from the squad

Joshua Zirkzee could move on temporarily. Reports claim United and Roma have agreed a loan with an option to buy for £26m to £31m. Roma would pay a £4m loan fee and cover 50 percent of his wages for the rest of the 2025 to 26 season.

Casemiro is nearing the end of his contract, with six months left on a £375,000 per week deal. United are said to have decided against activating a one year extension. A January transfer for around £25m is possible, but a summer departure on a free looks more likely.

Bruno Fernandes is not currently on the market, but there is fresh talk because of a reported £56.6m release clause that applies only to clubs outside the Premier League. That has led to links from Serie A and La Liga, especially after his recent hamstring injury.
