Champions League push could shape Liverpool’s summer plans
Liverpool still have major work to do in the closing weeks of the season, and their final league position could have a big influence on what happens in the summer transfer window. Arne Slot’s side are through to the FA Cup quarter-finals after beating Wolves, but the more urgent focus remains the battle for a top finish in the league.
There is plenty still to play before the FA Cup returns in early April. Liverpool must first navigate both legs of their Championship round of 16 tie against Galatasaray, while also facing Tottenham and Brighton in the league. With nine matches left, the Reds sit sixth, which would currently leave them outside Europe’s top competition next season. The table remains tight, though, with only three points separating Liverpool from third-placed Manchester United.
A strong finish could change the picture quickly and also strengthen the club’s position in the market ahead of next season. Jeremy Jacquet has already been confirmed as a new arrival, but Liverpool continue to be linked with more attacking talent.
Liverpool join race for in-demand young striker
One of the names attracting attention around Anfield is Eli Junior Kroupi. Reports in France claim Liverpool are among three clubs considering a move for the young forward, who joined Bournemouth in 2025 for a reported £12 million. After a rapid rise in England, it is now being suggested that Bournemouth could demand as much as £80 million to sell him.
The 19-year-old made his name by scoring 22 goals in Ligue 2 last season and helping Lorient earn promotion. This season, despite not always starting regularly, he has already managed eight Premier League goals and has maintained an impressive strike rate.
His progress has not gone unnoticed. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be watching the situation closely, meaning Liverpool could face serious competition if they decide to step up their interest. Kroupi himself has spoken openly about wanting to reach the very top level of the game and turning his biggest ambitions into clear career targets.
Osimhen backs Galatasaray before European clash
While transfer talk builds in the background, Liverpool also have an important European test ahead. Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has warned that the Turkish side believe they can upset Slot’s team again in the Champions League. Osimhen scored the winning penalty when the clubs met earlier in the season and also played a major role in Galatasaray’s extra-time win over Juventus in the previous round.
That adds another layer of pressure to an already tense stretch for Liverpool. With Champions League qualification, cup progress and summer recruitment all closely linked, the weeks ahead could shape the direction of the club well beyond this season.
