Paul Evans: Much better from the Reds – more energy and tighter defending.
Jan: We need to bed in new players gradually. Resting Milos Kerkez was smart; he doesn’t need the pressure cooker every week. Real tests are coming thick and fast. Slot isn’t a disaster, but this month has tested character and leadership. The Slot Machine works – just a slower build this time.
Garry: Disciplined display, thanks to a settled midfield trio. Villa gifted us chances – Madrid and City won’t. Hugo Ekitike is a revelation; Salah will grow in confidence. Andy Robertson should be the regular left-back.
Dax: Back-to-basics: high press, intensity, hunger. Szoboszlai electric, Bradley proved he belongs. Small tweaks = big rewards. Slot stuck to last season’s winning formula (Ekitike & Mamardashvili the only changes). Solid result.
Dave: Best performance of the season. We controlled a game for long spells – something we’ve rarely done. Frankfurt gave space; Villa didn’t. We earned it.
Aston Villa Fans
Mike: Not one of our most dispiriting defeats. Faults were obvious – Martinez’s sloppy passing – but overall I was pleased. Rogers showed class, and the fightback after 2-0 gave hope. Injury list is the real worry with a packed week ahead.
Michael: Game lost on Martinez’s panic pass. We invited pressure by never varying play-out-from-the-back. Emery must share blame – same script every time.
Adrian: Did OK in patches, never overawed. Martinez mistake + Torres brain-fade + poor finishing = defeat. We create for ourselves and for them. Need to be clinical, cynical, mentally sharper.
David: Bad luck facing last season’s Liverpool XI. Sloppy defending cost us again. Watkins subdued – should’ve tormented Konaté. He needs competition. Cancel Elliott’s loan, bring in a proper No.9 ASAP.
Mal: Inadequate. Defence all at sea. High line + rigid style cost us a draw. Watkins looks like he wants out. January window is make-or-break – Emery must get the right profiles.
