Dean Henderson: “Nothing I’d love more than being on that plane to the World Cup”

Proud to return to the England squad

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson said it was “an honour” to earn his fourth senior England cap in the win over Albania, marking his first appearance for the national team since June. England completed a flawless qualifying campaign, winning all eight matches and finishing with another clean sheet at the Arena Kombetare.

Henderson highlighted how important it is to stay ready every day in training, keeping sharp so he can perform when the opportunity comes. He admitted that the clean-sheet record added extra motivation, as he didn’t want to be the player who broke it.

A relentless push for a World Cup place

Henderson praised the unity inside the England camp, saying that togetherness is a key part of their current success. Every player knows their role and reinforces the collective effort throughout the training camps.

Looking ahead, Henderson was very clear about his ambition: playing at the 2026 World Cup would be a dream come true. He acknowledged Jordan Pickford’s long-standing role as England’s No. 1, adding that while he must challenge him, he also fully supports him.

His focus now is to stay ready for any chance that comes: if an opportunity presents itself, he intends to take it “with both hands”.
