Cornal Hendricks, a former South African rugby star, passed away at 37 on May 14, 2025, due to a heart attack, as confirmed by SA Rugby. The 12-cap Springbok, known for his infectious smile, played for the national team from 2014 to 2015, scoring five tries, and won Commonwealth Games gold with the Blitzboks in 2014. Diagnosed with a serious heart condition in 2016, Hendricks retired at 27, missing moves to Stormers and Toulon. After a second medical opinion, he made a remarkable comeback with the Bulls in 2019, playing until 2024 and winning two Currie Cups.
