Chalobah: “That was a captain’s performance” from Reece James

Academy duo combine for Chelsea’s opener

Trevoh Chalobah was full of praise for Chelsea captain Reece James after the pair combined for the opening goal in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal. In a fierce London derby at a lively Stamford Bridge, the Blues went toe to toe with the Premier League leaders despite Moises Caicedo’s first-half red card.

Chelsea struck first when Chalobah glanced in James’ superb inswinging corner with a precise flicked header, two Cobham graduates deciding the local clash. Speaking afterwards, Chalobah explained that the move was no accident, saying it was something they work on “every single day” in training.

“Unbelievable” skipper and collective effort

Chalobah described James as “unbelievable” and said his display summed up what a true captain’s performance looks like, especially in such a demanding game. Even with 10 men, Chelsea maintained their intensity, pressed high and defended bravely to protect a valuable point.

The defender stressed how proud he was of the collective effort, highlighting the way the team dug deep together to match Arsenal’s quality and spirit. For Chalobah, the result and the manner of the performance showed the character within the squad and the growing influence of their skipper.
