Manchester United step up Bruno Guimaraes chase amid growing transfer battle

Manchester United are reportedly moving forward in their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes, with the club looking at the Newcastle midfielder as one of the main names for their summer rebuild. Internal plans at Old Trafford point to the Brazilian as a strong option to refresh the center of the pitch ahead of next season.

The situation could become more complicated, though, because United are not the only club keeping a close eye on him. Real Madrid are also said to be interested, which may turn the chase into a serious contest between two major European sides.

United see Guimaraes as a key part of midfield changes

The search for a new midfielder has become more important as Casemiro prepares to leave the club when his contract expires in the summer. Although the veteran has enjoyed his most productive scoring season for United, the club is already planning for the next phase in midfield.

Reports suggest Guimaraes has been identified as a possible successor. The expected fee is around £69 million, and there is said to be willingness on both sides to make the move happen, which could help talks progress without major early obstacles.

Real Madrid could make the race much tougher

Any deal, however, may not be straightforward. Real Madrid have followed Guimaraes for some time and continue to view him as a player capable of strengthening their midfield for the future.

He has even been linked with the long term succession plan for players such as Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. That interest means Manchester United may have to do more than simply agree a fee if they want to win the race.

More midfield decisions are expected this summer

United are expected to reshape this area of the squad in a broader way. Casemiro’s departure would open up both wages and space, while other midfield names could also move on during the next transfer window.

At the same time, the club has also been linked with Wolves midfielder Andre, who has impressed despite his team’s difficult season. That suggests United are looking at several profiles as they prepare for multiple changes in the squad.

Stronger results give United fresh momentum

The club’s on field form has also improved in recent weeks. Under Michael Carrick, United have put themselves in a strong position in the league and are currently on course to qualify for the Champions League through a top four finish.

A recent win over Aston Villa has helped create breathing room in the table, and that momentum could strengthen the club’s appeal in the market. Even so, if United want Bruno Guimaraes, they may still need to overcome one of the toughest transfer battles of the summer.
