Scheduled Rematch: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk

The highly anticipated rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is officially set for December 21st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Announced by Turki Alalshikh, the chair of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, the bout offers Fury a chance to redeem himself after the first loss of his impressive 36-fight career. Conversely, Usyk, who boasts a flawless record with 22 wins, faces the possibility of his first professional defeat.

Anticipated Rematch: Fury vs. Usyk Set for December 2024

Oleksandr Usyk emerged victorious on a split decision when he faced Tyson Fury earlier this month, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. The much-publicized bout also took place in Saudi Arabia, where the rematch is set to occur.

In the initial fight agreement, it was noted that a rematch clause was included, paving the way for another historic showdown. If Fury wins the rematch in December, he will reclaim victory from his first professional loss in a 36-fight career. Conversely, Usyk faces the potential of his first defeat, having won all 22 of his bouts to date.

Turki Alalshikh, writing on social media, announced: “The rematch is now scheduled for 21 December 2024 during Riyadh Season. The world will witness another historic fight. We remain committed to our boxing fans and hope you enjoy the event.”

Anticipation Builds for Fury’s Rematch: Promoter Shares Insights

Frank Warren, Fury’s promoter, recently discussed the fighter’s state and future plans with Sky Sports. Warren said, “I spoke to him [Fury] after the fight and again when he returned, just to ensure he was okay. He felt very disappointed yet remained philosophical about the outcome.” The rematch, according to Warren, was agreed upon even before the first fight occurred, with both fighters expressing eagerness to face off again. Describing the initial encounter, he remarked, “It was a fabulous fight, featuring two absolute gladiators who left nothing behind in what was an epic showdown — the most significant fight of the 21st century.” He anticipates an even more intense battle in the upcoming rematch.

Usyk’s Remarkable Comeback Against Fury

Earlier this month, Fury appeared to dominate the initial stages of the fight, controlling the bout until the midway point. However, Usyk staged an impressive comeback, nearly securing a knockout in the ninth round. The Ukrainian boxer delivered multiple punches, pushing Fury to the brink. It seemed that only the ropes kept the so-called Gypsy King from hitting the canvas.
