This past weekend was a game-changer for boxing aficionados! The Infinite Reality Studios in Long Beach, California, hosted the inaugural boxing event by CBN Promotions, aptly titled “New Blood”. Partnered with Camponovo Sports Inc., the event was a feast for the eyes and was broadcast live on FOX Deportes in Spanish.
The Featherweight Showdown: Hermosillo vs. De Luna
Let’s jump straight into the main event: an 8-round featherweight nail-biter featuring Rigoberto Hermosillo from Victorville, CA, and Alexis De Luna hailing from Bakersfield, CA. It was a clash of titans, no doubt, with both fighters trading blows like there’s no tomorrow.
Round-by-Round Analysis
- Initial Rounds: Both were cautious, sizing each other up
- Middle Rounds: The heat turned up, fists flew. Hermosillo maximized his height, while De Luna landed power shots.
- Final Rounds: Too close to call, but Hermosillo had the last laugh, landing key head shots.
In the end, it was Hermosillo who clinched the win with a majority decision. The scorecards read 76-76, and 77-75 twice in favor of Hermosillo.
The fight was very close, so my corner told me I had to win the final rounds. I had to dig deep and I’m happy I got the win.
Co-main Event: Emiliano Moreno Defeats Levy Garcia Benitez
Our co-main event was no less exciting, featuring Emiliano Moreno against Levy Garcia Benitez in an 8-round super lightweight match. Both fighters showed grit and determination, making for an incredible back-and-forth. Moreno’s longer reach gave him the upper hand, and he eventually won by unanimous decision, with scorecards reading 79-73 twice and 78-74.
Fighting and getting a victory in front of my hometown fans was everything I envisioned.
The Undercards: A Quick Recap
- Tayden Beltran vs. Francisco Duque: An exciting bout that went the distance. Beltran pulled ahead with cleaner punches and won a unanimous decision.
- Juan Sanchez vs. Roberto Patron: A quick one. Sanchez knocked Patron out in the first round with a powerful left hook.
- Nelson Oliva vs. Selim Martinez: Another first-round KO, Oliva sent Martinez packing with a left hook.
- Deiniel Santiago Alegre vs. Sean Brewer: Alegre dictated the pace and won a unanimous decision.
- Kevin Salgado vs. Osvaldo Negrete: Salgado scored a second-round knockout.
Future Prospects and Final Thoughts
For an inaugural event, “New Blood” has set a high bar. With talent like Hermosillo and Moreno leading the charge, the future of boxing looks bright indeed. From exciting knockouts to bouts that went the distance, the event had it all.
We’re now all waiting with bated breath for CBN’s next event, and if it’s anything like “New Blood,” it’s going to be one for the books.
