MIES (Switzerland) – The eagerly awaited draws for the Men’s and Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournaments Paris 2024 were successfully held at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies.

The draw ceremony, conducted by legendary players Penny Taylor and Carmelo Anthony, was broadcasted globally via FIBA’s YouTube channel. It outlined the initial paths for all teams aspiring to become champions of the Men’s and Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournaments in Paris 2024.

This event has significantly heightened the excitement for the upcoming Olympic Games Basketball Tournaments, scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 11 in France.

Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024

The men’s tournament will run from July 27 to August 10. The group stage will be held in Lille at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium, while the playoff matches will be played in Paris at the Bercy Arena. The tournament will feature 12 teams, with 8 teams already confirmed:

  • France (host nation)
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • Serbia
  • South
  • Sudan
  • USA

Four more teams will qualify through Olympic qualifying tournaments held in Riga (Latvia), Valencia (Spain), Piraeus (Greece), and San Juan (Puerto Rico) from July 2 to 7.

  • Group A: Australia, Winner of Greece Qualifier, Canada, Winner of Spain Qualifier
  • Group B: France, Germany, Japan, Winner of Latvia Qualifier
  • Group C: Serbia, South Sudan, Winner of Puerto Rico Qualifier, USA

  • Greece: Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Egypt
  • Spain: Angola, Bahamas, Finland, Lebanon, Poland, Spain

  • Puerto Rico: Bahrain, Ivory Coast, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Puerto Rico

Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024

Details of the draw results for the women’s teams were also announced during the ceremony.

The ceremony was presided over by FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani and FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, along with representatives from the participating National Federations.
