EuroLeague Opens Disciplinary Case Against Campazzo

Argentinian guard Facundo Campazzo faces disciplinary action after an incident during Real Madrid’s game against Bayern Munich in the EuroLeague. In the closing moments of the game, with Bayern leading 92-89, Campazzo attempted to draw a foul but was unsuccessful. Frustrated by the non-call, he lashed out at the referees, which led to a technical foul and his eventual disqualification from the game.

Campazzo’s anger escalated, and he had to be physically restrained by his teammate Serge Ibaka as he continued to shout at the officials. The EuroLeague disciplinary judge will now determine the appropriate sanctions for Campazzo.

Possible Penalties for Campazzo

The decision is expected to be announced next week. According to sources, Campazzo could face either a suspension or a fine. Previous cases suggest that a fine is the more likely outcome, as there were no reports of serious insults. Last season, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Wade Baldwin was fined €3,500 for a similar incident, while Milos Teodosic received a two-game suspension and a €15,000 fine for disrespecting a referee.

The EuroLeague will soon make its decision on Campazzo’s actions, and the outcome will impact both Real Madrid’s lineup and the player’s future conduct.
