Anthony Edwards made a statement in the first half of Minnesota’s game against Oklahoma City on Thursday night with one of the most impressive dunks of the season.
The Dunk of the Night
Midway through the first quarter, Edwards received the ball on the wing, and without hesitation, he drove left, blowing past Aaron Wiggins. He then soared over Chet Holmgren at the peak, delivering a dunk that will surely be remembered as one of the best of the year.
Holmgren, who had been averaging 2.9 blocks per game, was left powerless as Edwards unleashed his athleticism. It’s not every day you see a shot blocker of Holmgren’s caliber get dunked on in such a dramatic fashion.
Edwards’ Strong First Half
Edwards’ dunk wasn’t the only highlight of his first half. He finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, leading the Timberwolves to an 8-point lead over the top-seeded Oklahoma City.
The 23-year-old is having a career-best season, averaging 27.5 points per game, and with this performance, he’s set to head to his third All-Star game. Edwards continues to establish himself as one of the league’s top young stars since being drafted first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.
